Valentines Dance & Social 2018

ValentinesOur 3rd Annual Thrivent sponsored Valentines Dance & Social on February 9th was a great success. Between the silent auction and ticket sales we raised $900 for the hurricane victims of Puerto Rico.

Eddie Miller was in top form that night, breaking out the disco lights and playing songs that some of us had never heard before. Couples, families and friends gathered to take fun pictures with a Valentine theme.

Thank you to all who donated to this event, whether it was with your time, your auction items, or your refreshments. This event would not have been successful without you, and all who attended.

Mark your calendars for next year’s dance, which should be held on Friday, February 8th.

Adopt A Family for Christmas

We’ve adopted a local family – a Grandmother raising three grandsons (12, 16, and 23 years old). Gifts need to be brought to the church by December 10th.   A wrapping party will take place during the Advent meal time on Wednesday the 13th.

We also are collecting Christmas cards and stamps to donate to the Coconino County Jail  to help keep families in touch during this Christmas season.

Packing Hope

A Thrivent Action sponsored event to benefit women at Hope Cottage occurred on October 28, 2107.  Approximately 75 welcome kits for the incoming women of Hope Cottage.  Special bags were packed with a bible, hygiene items, combs and brushes, a pair of socks, prayer gift box, pen and paper.  Please continue to save the small unopened hotel size shampoos, lotions and the like for next year.

Prayer Chain

PrayerHave you ever had family, friends, or yourself suffer from illness or fall victim to an accident? Did a personal relationship cause heartache or did a tragedy befall you or someone you know?  Are you concerned for someone overseas?  Do you want to share your gratitude for blessings such as a new baby or a new job?

God loves us and wants us to turn to Him in our time of need. He also rejoices when we rejoice and give Him praise and thanks. Having others pray with, and/or for you, is another way to open our hearts and minds to dialogue with our Lord.

Peace Lutheran Church has a group of dedicated and loving people who care about you and yours and will accept prayer requests anytime.  If you have a prayer request or if you would like to become a part of this Prayer Chain Ministry, please contact our Prayer Chain Chair

Jail Outreach & Support Groups

Members of our congregation join with others in holding bible studies for women incarcerated at the Coconino County Detention Facility every Sunday afternoon from 1:00-2:00 pm.

We also work with several support groups in providing them with a safe space to hold their meetings.

Operation Christmas Child

Each year Peace Lutheran prepares hundreds of shoe boxes in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse. Boxes are filled with hygiene items (toothbrushes & toothpaste, bar soap, comps, washcloths), school supplies (pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, coloring books),  accessories (t-shirts, socks, hair clips, flashlights), small toys (yo-yos, jump ropes, toy cars), and prayers for boys and girls ages 2-14.

With the help of some who attended the Thanksgiving Feast, 123 boxes were packed  Donations of $ 277 also collected will help send these boxes to the distribution centers and then to the children across the world!

Samaritan’s Purse adds a New Testament Bible and a Bible story book printed in the language of the area as well as an invitation to the children to attend a Bible class series, bringing the Gospel to many children.
